Celtic Connections 2016 – Half Time Report

I am halfway through my Celtic Connections visit and thought, as I have a rare quiet day today, it was a good time to take stock of the highlights so far.

Best Open Stage Band – Great competition here and special mentions go to Eabhal and the incredible Meadows Family, but, just edging ahead are the fantastic Jennifer Ewan Band.

Best Support Act – Strong competition again with special mentions for Rod Picott and Pons Aleius but the winners are the humorous and hugely talented Solasta.

Best Song – No doubts here. “I Just Drove by To See if Things had Changed” by Kimmie Rhodes was beautiful.

Best Single Event – Another easy one. Ewan Robertson’s “Transitions” was stunning.

If you haven’t guessed, I am having a great time. Great music and great craic as always. Finally, although I have been wandering the streets of Glasgow at all hours of the day and night, the only fight I have witnessed was at 6pm….. in Poundland! Welcome to Glasgow!
